Billy Randolph pleaded guilty just before the start of her jury trial on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>   DeAujalae Evans Guilty Plea <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/p-fwpd-sgt-billy-randolph-funeral-7a_kdfw977b_146__00.01.08.48.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" fetchpriority=\"auto\" data-v-2fe2fe3e=\"\"\/>   <\/p>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"KDFW\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-f1afc186=\"\">What&#8217;s new:<\/p>\n<p data-v-f1afc186=\"\">Prosecutors were set to deliver their opening statements on Thursday morning in the trial for DeAujalae Evans.<\/p>\n<p data-v-f1afc186=\"\">However, Evans pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon before the jury arrived in court.<\/p>\n<p data-v-f1afc186=\"\">She was originally charged with intoxication manslaughter of a peace officer, which carries a maximum sentence of up to life in prison. The maximum sentence for intoxication manslaughter is only 20 years.<\/p>\n<p data-v-f1afc186=\"\">The jury is expected to decide Evans&#8217; punishment.<\/p>\n<p data-v-f1afc186=\"\">No cameras were allowed in the courtroom.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Sgt. Billy Randolph\u2019s Death <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/bill-randolph.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" fetchpriority=\"auto\" data-v-2fe2fe3e=\"\"\/>  <\/p>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"KDFW\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-f1afc186=\"\">The backstory:<\/p>\n<p data-v-f1afc186=\"\">The Fort Worth Police Department lost a beloved, long-time officer when Sgt. Billy Randolph died in August of 2024.<\/p>\n<p data-v-f1afc186=\"\">The husband and father of two was working a fiery 18-wheeler crash along Interstate 35W when he was struck and killed by a wrong-way driver.<\/p>\n<p data-v-f1afc186=\"\">That driver was 26-year-old DeAujalae Evans. She allegedly continued to drive for more than a quarter of a mile before trying to run away from the scene.<\/p>\n<p data-v-f1afc186=\"\">She was also on probation after pleading guilty earlier that year to an armed assault case involving a romantic partner.
