We train our caregivers to understand dementia, recognize changes in condition, and communicate effectively with families and healthcare professionals.

“Our clinical oversight ensures families feel supported and confident that their loved ones’ needs are truly understood.”

Areas of care at Overture include aging in place support, Alzheimer’s & Dementia support, cognitive support, post-hospital care, respite care, and chronic illness support.

And every type of care starts with an eye toward new beginnings.

“My husband, Rob, and I were thinking of different names that had a relationship with exceptionalism, quality, and relationships, and the word ‘Overture’ just came to mind,” Helms said. “The meaning of the word Overture is a beginning, the start, the prelude and that is how we see ourselves as a home care company. We are starting new relationships with clients and their families as we begin to provide caregiving services.”

Helms said Overture Home Care provides private-duty, non-medical home care that allows older adults to remain safely and independently at home.

“Whether a family needs companionship, dementia support, or more advanced daily assistance, our team is there to walk alongside them,” Helms said.

Since starting her company more than a decade ago, Helms said her approach to business management has evolved.

“As a business owner, I started by being very hands-on and in the middle of everything,” Helms said. “As we’ve grown over the past 10 years, my role has evolved to more of a coach and leader of the organization with a great team surrounding me.”

Originally from Jamestown, North Dakota, Helms graduated from college at Mid-America Nazarene University with a BSN in Nursing.

Helms, who resides in the Aledo area, has worked with senior adults in “all different settings” throughout her career and has lived in Texas since 1992.

She and Rob are active in the community; Denise serves on the board of the Parker County Health Foundation and Rob is president of the board at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Parker County.

Helms said one of the most rewarding things for her is that she feels that the vision she had for Overture Home Care since its inception has come to fruition.

“The dream of caring for over one million seniors in their home, and helping so many families over the past 10 years be able to be the family member, not the caregiver, gives me great joy and satisfaction,” Helms said. “The vision we had at the beginning has absolutely become reality, and we are just getting started.

“Our mission remains the same: to care for seniors with dignity, discretion and patience and to be a trusted partner for families throughout North Texas.”

Helms said it is not always easy to run a business, as she and Rob found out a few years back when they faced their biggest hurdle in company history.

“The most challenging thing would have had to be the COVID years, while we were relatively new as an agency and having to flex and figure out how we could still take care of our seniors and provide jobs for all of our caregivers,” Helms said.

But helping families return to being daughters, sons, and spouses instead of full-time caregivers makes it all worthwhile and inspired the Helms to persevere.

“That transformation is why we do what we do,” Helms said.

While multiple factors go into building a successful company like Overture Home Care, for Helms, a few things stand out.

“I would say never stop learning, always listen, and be nimble and quick to make direction changes when identified,” Helms said. “I also think that striving to be the employer of choice translates into better quality of care being delivered. That is how you become one of the best and most respected agencies.”

Overture has won numerous prestigious awards including Best of Homecare’s Provider of Choice, Leader of Choice and Employer of Choice in both 2024 and 2025, most recently, Parker County Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year.

Families interested in learning more about services in Weatherford and surrounding communities can visit www.overturehomecare.com or call 817-887-9401.

Denise and Rob Helms are the owners of Overture Home Care.
