More than a dozen “No Kings” protests are scheduled for the greater Houston area on Saturday, marking the latest round of coordinated, nationwide demonstrations against President Donald Trump and his administration.<\/p>\n

Thousands of No Kings<\/a> protests are planned across the United States this weekend. The recurring demonstrations have been organized by a coalition that includes the 50501<\/a> movement \u2014 a grassroots organization that quickly spread online last year. The group\u2019s name stands for 50 protests, 50 states, 1 movement, and it was first proposed in late January 2025 on the social media site Reddit.<\/p>\n

Multiple protests organized by the group have since been held in the Houston area, including a Presidents Day protest<\/a> in February 2025 and No Kings demonstrations in June<\/a> and October<\/a> of last year. <\/p>\n

According to the No Kings website<\/a>, the movement represents a \u201cnonviolent national day of action and mass mobilization in response to the increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption of the Trump administration.”<\/p>\n

The Republican president has drawn criticism, particularly from Democrats, over issues such as ramped-up enforcement of federal immigration laws, tariffs and their impact on the economy and the U.S. and Israel\u2019s ongoing war with Iran. <\/p>\n
