{"id":223098,"date":"2026-03-27T13:39:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-27T13:39:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/223098\/"},"modified":"2026-03-27T13:39:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-27T13:39:10","slug":"fatal-auto-pedestrian-crash-in-nw-austin-shuts-down-southbound-us-183-friday-morning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/223098\/","title":{"rendered":"Fatal auto-pedestrian crash in NW Austin shuts down southbound US 183 Friday morning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AUSTIN, Texas \u2014 The southbound lanes of US 183 are shut down Friday morning after a driver struck and killed a pedestrian.<\/p>\n<p>APD says that the pickup truck struck a pedestrian in the 13000 block of US 183 in the southbound lanes of the highway just before 4 a.m. Friday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Police say the pedestrian was presumptively trying to cross the highway when they were hit.<\/p>\n<p>Police and EMS responded to the scene and attempted medical care on the victim; APD says that person was declared dead at 4:25 a.m.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cbsaustin.com\/news\/local\/round-rock-isd-parents-ask-district-to-reconsider-bus-route-cuts-district-responds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ALSO | Round Rock ISD parents ask district to reconsider bus route cuts, district responds<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Vehicular Homicide Units are not at the scene yet. APD says that those responders are currently en route after investigating <a href=\"https:\/\/cbsaustin.com\/news\/local\/1-dead-in-s-austin-motorcycle-crash-apd-says-investigation-may-delay-us-183-autoped-scene\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">a fatal motorcycle crash that happened around 3 a.m. Friday morning in south Austin.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>APD says that this delay in investigation will likely cause US 183 to remain closed for at least three more hours.<\/p>\n<p>Police say traffic is being diverted at the Spicewood Springs Road \/ McNeil Road exit just after Anderson Mill Road.<\/p>\n<p>APD says that investigators are performing sobriety tests on the driver of the pickup truck, who remained on scene after the crash.
