Much of the state will wake up noticeably chilly Saturday morning with temperatures in the 40s and 50s. Thanks to cloudy skies and a few sprinkles, highs Saturday will only reach the 60s and 70s! Despite the gloomy day Saturday, we’ll get a sunny and warm day Sunday, with highs soaring back to the 80s and 90s. As we warm into next week, small rain chances will appear by midweek.<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0ICE agents seen checking traveler IDs at Houston airport as DHS deploys more resources<\/a><\/p>\n

As airport security lines continue to grow, federal officials say they are sending in help to aid Transportation Security Administration workers at Houston\u2019s airports.<\/p>\n

TSA agents have been working without pay for over 40 days since the partial government shutdown began in February. Many TSA agents have stopped coming to work, and\u00a0nearly 500 of the agency\u2019s nearly 50,000 officers have quit.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Top White House official pushing Texas Republican legislators to stop funding school for undocumented children<\/a><\/p>\n

Some Republicans are looking to overturn a long-standing public education ruling that allows undocumented students to\u00a0attend public schools.<\/p>\n

The 1982 U.S. Supreme Court case Plyler v. Doe originated in Texas after four immigrant families sued the Tyler Independent School District for expelling their children when they could not provide birth certificates. The high court determined the undocumented children are protected under the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment.\u00a0Texas Rep. Andy Hopper, R-Decatur, wants to challenge that decision.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0University Park officials say SMU crosswalk doesn’t violate state order<\/a><\/p>\n

As the City of Dallas started to remove its rainbow and Black Lives Matter murals from roads and crosswalks, another North Texas city says it\u2019s allowed to keep its own decorative marking despite a state order.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0WFAA, University Park officials said in a statement that an intersection featuring the Southern Methodist University mascot, a red mustang, is not in violation of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott\u2019s order prohibiting markings on state roads.<\/p>\n
