One downtown San Antonio hat shop has been the favorite of celebrities for more than a century, and the countless photos of stars lining its walls are proof. Now, Paris Hatters<\/a> has a new name to add to the list.<\/p>\n

Led Zeppelin icon Robert Plant stopped by<\/a> on Thursday, March 19, store manager Alex Cortez Sledge told MySA in a direct message. She said,\u00a0“He was very nice and was with a group, but didn’t make mention of who he was.”<\/p>\n

“We thought he looked familiar but then [Paris Hatters owner Abe Cortez] overheard the group talking and one person mentioned his name,” Sledge said. “I did ask what brought him to town (I assumed it was vacation), but he said he was playing at the Majestic Theatre.”<\/p>\n

According to a post in the Southtown Official Facebook group, Plant also headed to Liberty Bar while in San Antonio.\u00a0Plant and his current band, Saving Grace, did\u00a0rock the Majestic Theatre<\/a> on Thursday, March 19, playing century-old folk classics, some Led Zeppelin favorites and lots of blues and country-inspired acoustic tracks. Comprising Plant, vocalist\u00a0Suzi Dian, drummer Oli Jefferson, guitarist Tony Kelsey, banjo and string player Matt Worley and\u00a0cellist Barney Morse-Brown, Saving Grace\u00a0was formed in 2019 and released its first album just last year.<\/p>\n

As for what Plant bought during his trip to Paris Hatters, Sledge says she thinks it was a Stetson Open Road straw hat. He’s hardly the first legendary musician to come by the shop, as Paris Hatters’ website<\/a> lists stars like Johnny Cash and wife June Carter Cash, Merle Haggard, B.B. King, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney and many others among the ranks. Politicians, comedians, actors and athletes have also been known to frequent the store, so it’s safe to say that celebrities have a “Whole Lotta Love” for Paris Hatters.<\/p>\n
