SAN ANTONIO \u2013 San Antonio International Airport (SAT) officially opened its Terminal A expansion on Friday.<\/p>\n
According to the airport, the expansion supports both domestic and international operations, adding new ground-load gates, passenger areas and a Federal Inspection Station for international arrivals.<\/p>\n
Erik Walsh, the city manager of San Antonio, said on Friday that the opening of the Terminal A expansion is a significant next step. <\/p>\n
\u201cThis is an important next step in the continued growth of this airport,\u201d said Walsh. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe Terminal A Expansion is a key component of ELEVATE\/SAT, a broader infrastructure development initiative to expand travel opportunities, accommodate increasing passenger demand and strengthen San Antonio\u2019s regional economy,\u201d an email from the airport states. \u201cA central feature of the Terminal A project is the Ground Load Facility, which will allow SAT to expand its operational capacity.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Terminal A expansion includes a multi-sensory environment with quiet rooms and other features that make travel more comfortable for passengers.<\/p>\n
