The Texas left-hander was 1-2-3 efficient in the first inning, throwing only seven pitches, but the Sooners have riddled him with singles — and runs — in the second and third.

Article continues below this ad

After falling behind 2-0 in the second inning, Volantis gave up another couple of hits and another run in the third. Brendan Brock led off with a single — OU’s fifth single of the game — and Jaxon Willits added a sixth single to place runners on first and second with no outs. Drew Dickerson’s single to right field scored Brock for the 3-0 lead.

The Sooners now have seven hits (all singles) off Volantis, who previously hadn’t allowed more than six hits in any previous game this season. A walk loaded the bases with two outs and Oklahoma up 2-0, but Volantis got Camden Johnson to ground out, a chopper that Volantis handled himself.

Volantis’ first inning: seven pitches thrown.

Article continues below this ad

Volantis’ second inning: 29. Eight Sooners had an at-bat.

Texas vs Oklahoma

Article continues below this ad

Place: UFCU Disch-Falk Field

Texas Longhorns head coach Jim Schlossnagle watches the game from the dugout in the fifth inning as the…

[11
132,134,133,2845,67531,772,80455,2846,537,20340,60844
0":"post-225209","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-austin","8":"tag-austin","9":"tag-austin-headlines","10":"tag-austin-news","11":"tag-college-baseball","12":"tag-dylan-volantis","13":"tag-oklahoma-sooners","14":"tag-oklahoma-sooners-baseball","15":"tag-sec-baseball","16":"tag-texas-longhorns","17":"tag-texas-longhorns-baseball","18":"tag-ufcu-disch-falk-field
["GET
