The TDLR filing shows that a $750,000 restaurant is in the works at 1119 East 11th Street, with construction aiming to start on May 1 and be completed by September 30. The name of the restaurant is not included, and the scope of work only says the existing building shell will be converted into a 1,500-square-foot restaurant and bar. All TDLR filings are subject to change without notice.<\/p>\n

MySA spoke with Michael Colaninni of ATX Ventures, LLC \u2014 who is listed as the owner of the property in the TDLR \u2014 but he was unable to confirm any details about a potential future restaurant.<\/p>\n

The Majors-Butler-Thomas House received a historic landmark designation in 2015, but the property appears to have been left abandoned since before the COVID-19 pandemic. A petition was filed to remove the historic designation in 2020, but it’s unclear if this was successful. Zillow has the property valued<\/a> at $564,500, but it’s listed as off the market.<\/p>\n

Still, it’s not surprising the property is being singled out. East 11th Street has become one of the hottest destinations in the world, not just Texas. TimeOut named it the No. 3 coolest street in the world<\/a>, praising its access to Franklin Barbecue, the African American Cultural and Heritage Facility and Vintage Bookstore and Wine Bar.
