EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Emerson Grace Lowenfield, a young El Paso student, hosted the first Grace for Paws tennis tournament as a fundraiser to support animal rescue efforts in El Paso on Sunday, March 28.

The event began at 11 a.m. at Coronado High School and had the Animal Rescue League of El Paso on-site with adoptable pets. Attendees were able to support the ongoing rescue and rehabilitation efforts across El Paso by connecting directly with the animals who are in need of new homes.

Lowenfield founded Grace for Paws to focus on raising awareness and funding for local animal rescue organizations. Through sponsorship support, the Grace for Paws tennis tournament fundraiser was able to raise over $9,000 ahead of the event, surpassing its original goal by $1,500.

“I started Grace for Paws because I wanted to do something real to help animals in our community,” Lowenfield said. “Seeing how many people have supported this means a lot, and I ‘m excited to keep growing it.”

While Sunday’s tennis tournament marks the first she has done, Lowenfield hopes to continue her efforts to make a difference in the El Paso community.
