(Karen Chaney\/Community Impact)What they offer<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCatherine Daniels opened a CDdesigns Florist storefront in Plano in 2019 after a decade working at a florist and years building from her garage to a studio within a wedding planning business.<\/p>\n
She said one of her favorite things about owning this business is being able to say yes to any outlandish idea customers request.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere would be ranunculus, larkspurs, roses and tulips,\u201d Daniels said. \u201cIt is kind of combining it into an explosion of nature. Explosions of nature\u2014those are my favorite types [of arrangements].\u201d<\/p>\n

Although Valentine’s Day and Mother\u2019s Day are their top two busiest seasons, CDdesigns Florist also has many requests that revolve around nearby Plano East Senior High activities, including performance bouquets, prom and homecoming.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe love performance bouquets. We ask what character they are playing and we put as much theme into that as possible,\u201d Daniels said. \u201cWe made origami roses out of book pages for ‘Beauty and the Beast.’ I called one [arrangement] \u2018strange and unusual\u2019 for someone performing ‘Beetlejuice.’\u201d<\/p>\n
Striving to create custom pieces that will wow recipients, Daniels asks customers a variety of questions, especially when extra guidance is needed.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe speak flower,\u201d Daniels said. \u201cIf they’re not sure what their girlfriend’s favorite color is we ask \u2018What color is her phone case?\u2019 And we start helping them narrow down with questions like that.\u201d<\/p>\n
A closer look<\/p>\n
About four years ago, a FC Dallas representative called to ask about Sunday delivery. Though most florists are closed, Daniels said yes. Over the years, CDdesigns has created a variety of floral arrangements for the Frisco-based Major League Soccer team, including team events, cocktail hours and more. Although the floral requests haven\u2019t been finalized for World Cup events, Daniels is thinking ahead.<\/p>\n
\u201cUsually we’ll go with the color schemes, stage arrangements and all the fun pieces to elevate their experience,\u201d Daniels said.<\/p>\n
Meet the owner<\/p>\n
Daniels, a longtime Plano resident, said ever since she was a child she gravitated towards creativity and collecting natural items to piece together arrangements. Cultivating her natural bent into a career has created a sense of fulfillment.<\/p>\n
