Those traveling on the eastbound Loop 1604 frontage road who need to make a U-turn at the I-10 interchange should continue through the interchange, turn left onto the westbound I-10 frontage road, then turn left again onto the westbound Loop 1604 frontage road.<\/p>\n<p>TxDOTs says these closures are necessary so that crews can work on bridges in the area. Construction closures are part of a larger initiative, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.txdot.gov\/projects\/projects-studies\/san-antonio\/loop1604\/project-segments.html\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Loop 1604 North Expansion Project<\/a>. The $1.4B project aims to completely reshape the I-10, Loop 1604 intersection. An intimidating stack of direct connectors between the two busy highways, replacing the iconic four-leaf-clover design of decades past, are already visible and operating.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s one of the most congested corridors in the state,&#8221; TxDOT Public Information Officer Jennifer Serold previously told MySA. &#8220;Over the next 20 to 25 years, the amount of daily drivers is expected to double. So, this expansion project is to prepare for future growth but also to give benefits to drivers in the next few years \u2026 It\u2019s bringing a lot of congestion relief to drivers by giving them more lanes to travel on. And then, of course, when you reduce congestion, you increase safety for the drivers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>TxDOT says access to all businesses in the area will available during these closures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Drivers in the area should plan to take a detour.
