Southlake Carroll will face Denton Guyer at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Birdville FA/AC. The Guyer Wildcats (20-3-1) are a formidable opponent that will carry an eight game win streak into the bout. It will be a tough task to break down a Dragon defense that has conceded just one garbage time goal to Legacy during its playoff run.

Aledo boys

Record: 21-3-2, 11-0-1 District 5-5A

State tournament appearances: 2005, 2018

State championships: None

Playoff path in Class 5A Division I: Denton (2-2 *SO), Joshua (6-0), Bel Air (2-1 *2OT)

The breakdown: Aledo is battle-tested with quality, hard-fought wins over tough opponents and is aiming to win its first boys soccer state title, which would add to a legacy of well-rounded athletic success at the school. Americas lost 6-0 in an early January non-district game to Bel Air, Aledo’s regional semifinal opponent. That outcome suggests Aledo will enter as a favorite, but a lot can change in three months.

Colleyville Heritage girls

Record: 16-3-2, 7-3-2 District 6-5A

State tournament appearances: 1999, 2001, 2011, 2024, 2025

State championships: 1999

Playoff path in Class 5A Division I: Aledo (2-1), Paschal (3-0), Amarillo (2-1)

The breakdown: This Colleyville Heritage squad knows how to win big games, as several top performers have been part of consecutive trips to the state finals the past two seasons. Colleyville Heritage will face Burleson Centennial (18-1-4) at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Crowley ISD Stadium.

Burleson Centennial girls

Record: 18-1-4, 11-0-3 District 8-5A

State tournament appearances: None

State championships: None

Playoff path in Class 5A Division I: Arlington Heights (2-0), Birdville (4-3 *2OT), Tascosa (1-0)

The breakdown: After dominating district play, Centennial showcased the stretch wasn’t a fluke with strong wins over solid programs like Birdville and Tascosa. The Spartans will face Colleyville Heritage at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Crowley ISD Stadium. Centennial’s area round opponent, Birdville, holds two regular season wins over Heritage. That’s a good sign for the Spartans as they aim for program and district history. A girls’ soccer team from Burleson ISD has yet to make a state semifinal appearance.

Fort Worth O.D. The two teams will clash at 6:30 Tuesday at Northwest ISD Stadium. So far, Grapevine’s shutout defense has paved the way, allowing zero goals in the postseason. In the regular season against Argyle, defense was a major key to Grapevine’s success. Although the Mustangs finished third in district, they seized a slight upper hand over Argyle with a 1-0 win and a 0-0 draw, conceding zero goals.

Decatur boys

Record: 17-1-2, 7-1 District 4-4A

State tournament appearances: None

State championships: None

Playoff path in Class 4A Division I: West Plains (7-2), Lake View (3-2), Life Waxahachie (2-0)

The breakdown: Decatur will face Lake Dallas (9-6-6) 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Argyle High School with program history on the line.
