EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 A 33-year-old Chaparral man was arrested early Saturday after El Paso police said a 47-year-old man was found outside a burning home with injuries consistent with an assault.<\/p>\n
Police were called at 3:44 a.m. on 03-28-2026 to the 700 block of North Ochoa on a report of an assaulted person. <\/p>\n
Investigators said the El Paso Fire Department had responded to a structure fire at the location and, during that response, found the victim outside the residence. <\/p>\n
Police said the victim appeared to have injuries consistent with being assaulted. <\/p>\n
Police said both the suspect and the victim were homeless. <\/p>\n
He was transported to a burn center in Lubbock and was last listed in critical condition.<\/p>\n
Through the investigation, police identified David Garcia as the person responsible for the assault. <\/p>\n
Garcia was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. <\/p>\n
His bond was set at $500,000. <\/p>\n
