Money might make the world go round, but it is often treated as a taboo topic. That\u2019s what the creators of downtown Dallas\u2019 MoMoney: Museum of Money hope to change with their new immersive experience, which aims to spark conversations about cash and financial reality. <\/p>\n

MoMoney creators Houss El Marabti and Subhi Gharbieh first came up with the idea of MoMoney in 2021. <\/p>\n

Both have backgrounds in real estate and finance. They also brought the Museum of Illusions to Dallas and other cities in Texas. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe all go to school to get a job, to get money and we know how to spend it,\u201d Marabti said. \u201cBut there isn\u2019t a lot of education that comes with knowing how to save it, how to manage it, how to invest it. And it always feels difficult, but it shouldn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

MoMoney opened its doors on Feb. 20. It\u2019s a fun, immersive activity and an educational museum. It takes about 90 minutes to go through the whole museum.<\/p>\n

The experience begins the moment you walk in, when guests are asked the question, \u201cWhat does money mean to you?\u201d Depending on their answer, visitors go through one of three doors labeled power, freedom or opportunity. <\/p>\n

They will then learn about the history of money, play a bartering game and participate in other fun activities while learning about the forms of currency before paper money existed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to make money more approachable and do it in a fun, interactive way that makes people feel like they\u2019re playing a game,\u201d Marabti said. He said he hopes that visitors will leave with a nugget of knowledge \u201cthat might make a difference.\u201d <\/p>\n

Other activities in the museum include deciphering counterfeit money, taking photos in a bathtub full of faux money, getting your financial fortune read by AI \u201cexperts\u201d from the \u201980s, creating money with your face on it and doing a laser maze vault heist<\/p>\n

If museum attendees have questions about their finances, they can use one of the iPads to ask a few questions and get a financial plan based on real data. <\/p>\n

The museum is for people of all ages.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe small gems of knowledge that are hinted throughout the experience … open your mind to think a little more openly about your finances,\u201d Gharbieh said.<\/p>\n
