{"id":227928,"date":"2026-03-31T02:34:12","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T02:34:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/227928\/"},"modified":"2026-03-31T02:34:12","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T02:34:12","slug":"board-recognition-recap-march-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/227928\/","title":{"rendered":"Board Recognition Recap: March 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the March 10 Plano ISD Board of Trustees meeting, the board had the privilege of recognizing outstanding Plano ISD individuals and groups who\u00a0exemplify excellence, dedication and the spirit of being Plano ISD Proud.<\/p>\n<p>Two Plano ISD students were recognized for having their artwork\u00a0displayed at the Bullock Texas State History Museum in March.<\/p>\n<p>The Texas Art Education Association&#8217;s Youth Art Month Spring Exhibition showcases Pre-K through 12th grade student works of art across Texas.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The following Plano ISD students were selected for their artwork:<\/p>\n<p>\tMaia Liu, Clark High School,\u00a0Left Behind<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"maia liu\" data-image- data-resource-description=\"\" data-resource-filename=\"0R0A9750.png\" data-resource-uuid=\"f4b8201a-9e91-4b85-b8eb-7ba8118b53c0\" src=\"\" width=\"452\"\/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"image of left behind artwork by maia liu\" data-image- data-resource-description=\"\" data-resource-filename=\"StateYAM_MaiaLiu_Clark.jpg\" data-resource-uuid=\"d3e5de66-7c83-40ce-8445-4a9d5dbfe1d7\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\" width=\"452\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\tMia Orozco (not pictured), Plano West Senior High School,\u00a0Coil Reef<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"coil reef artwork by mia orozco\" data-image- data-resource-description=\"\" data-resource-filename=\"StateYAM_MiaOrozco_PWSH.jpg\" data-resource-uuid=\"8963aa60-46a3-4ad1-9a2e-aaf8a1a76314\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\" width=\"449\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The exhibit was also<a aria-describedby=\"audioeye_new_window_message\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thestoryoftexas.com\/visit\/exhibits\/youth-art-month-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">\u00a0featured on the Bullock Museum&#8217;s website.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>56 Plano ISD students made it to the top 2% of musicians in the state that qualified\u00a0for the Texas Music Education Association, out of about 72,000 students who began the audition process. During the meeting, five Plano ISD teachers joined the 276 Texas teachers who achieved the certification in December 2025.<\/p>\n<p>This group has been a part of Professional Learning\u2019s National Board Cohort\u2013the first group we have supported without assistance from an outside agency. They spent 2 years meeting monthly and diligently working on 4 components The work involved scrutinizing their own practice as educators and proving their impact on student learning through effective assessment, differentiating for a variety of student needs, advocating for students, pursuing their own professional learning, being masters of both content and pedagogy, and delivering engaging, responsive instruction that produces results!\u00a0In December, they received the good news that they had achieved the points necessary to be named National Board Certified Teachers. They truly are the best of the best.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to:<\/p>\n<p>\tMeerna Ayoubi, Plano West Senior High School, certified in Match, Adolescent and Young Adult<br \/>\n\tJessica Grubb, Boggess Elementary School, certified as a Middle Childhood Generalist<br \/>\n\tLatrice McIntyre, Aldridge Elementary, certified in Literacy, Early and Middle Childhood<br \/>\n\tDr. Joseph Russell, Plano East Senior High School, certified in History, Adolescent and Young Adult<br \/>\n\tBridgett Wolstencroft, Plano East Senior High School, certified in Career and Technical Education, Early Adolescence through Young Adult<\/p>\n<p>Plano ISD now has 16 National Board Certified teachers.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"image of teachers recognized with dr. williams and board vice president nancy humphrey\" data-image- data-resource-description=\"\" data-resource-filename=\"0R0A9798.png\" data-resource-uuid=\"1304e159-66a7-40be-91b2-258f3cc5ca35\" src=\"\" width=\"448\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Facility Services employees were recognized for their incredible work during the month of January, which included freezing temperatures and extended school closures due to icy conditions and treacherous roadways.<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height:1.7999999999999998; margin-top:16px; margin-bottom:16px\">While\u00a0students stayed safe at home, these dedicated individuals braved the elements, working around the clock to keep our schools safe and operational. They responded to water outages, pipe breaks, HVAC failures, power interruptions and countless other issues that arose during the extreme weather. Their expertise, perseverance and commitment ensured that our facilities remained in good working order and ready to welcome the safe return of our students and staff. Their work often happens behind the scenes, but its impact is felt across every campus and by every member of our district and community.
