HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A 5-year-old child drowned in a neighbor’s pool in the Cloverleaf area on Monday, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.<\/p>\n

According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, deputies responded to the 900 block of Nancy Rose Street around 12:20 p.m. in the 900 block of Nancy Rose Street on Monday. According to officials, the 5-year-old child reportedly left the house unattended.<\/p>\n

HCSO said they began searching for the child using a drone. According to Gonzalez, the child’s mother told law enforcement that her son has autism and is nonverbal, and he was seen only wearing a diaper.<\/p>\n

Officials said the responding deputies found the child with the use of the drone, where he was unresponsive in a neighbor’s pool. Upon arrival, deputies pulled the child from the water and administered CPR, HCSO said. The child was later pronounced dead, according to authorities.<\/p>\n

HCSO said that detectives and CSI are investigating the incident.<\/p>\n
