CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 A Coastal Bend Easter tradition that has spanned more than eight decades is now calling on the community for help.<\/p>\n
Organizers of the Easter Sunrise Passion Play say they are in urgent need of volunteers to take part in this year\u2019s performance, set for Sunday morning at Cole Park.<\/p>\n
The annual event, now in its 84th year, brings the story of the Passion of Christ to life at the Cole Park Amphitheater and has long been a fixture for families across the region on Easter weekend.<\/p>\n
This year, organizers say they are short on actors \u2014 but emphasize that anyone can take part.<\/p>\n
No experience is required, and there are no lines to memorize.<\/p>\n
Participants are simply asked to attend a rehearsal scheduled for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cole Park Amphitheater, where organizers will guide volunteers through their roles.<\/p>\n
The performance itself will take place at sunrise Sunday, beginning around 7 a.m.<\/p>\n
Organizers say the event is open to all and hope community members will step up to help continue the decades-long tradition.<\/p>\n
