Waffle House<\/a>, the American chain of all-day breakfast restaurants, is pushing hard into Houston’s northern outreaches. According to permits filed recently with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the chain is prepping five locations to open in Montgomery County.<\/p>\n

The Waffle Houses<\/a> will be headed to Conroe, Kingwood, New Caney, Porter and Splendora, according to the filings. Each new construction comes with an estimated $300,000 price tag and is roughly 1,800 square feet. According to the filings, the buildouts are expected to finish in the second half of 2026, with the exception of the Kingwood location. When mapped out, an interesting pattern emerges. All of these Waffle Houses are near or practically adjacent to the Eastex (U.S. 59) and North (I-45) freeways. We’ve reported on this in regards to why chains typically choose to open in Houston’s suburbs\u2014proximity to freeways is not only great for visibility, but it’s also great for logistical reasons as you can ferry supplies more easily on a major roadway vs. meandering through city streets.<\/p>\n

To that note, of the 40 Waffle House locations in the Houston metropolitan area, none are inside the 610 Loop.<\/p>\n

Waffle House has yet to respond to Chron’s request for comment.
