A man was found and appeared to have sustained injuries consistent with being assaulted, reported by the El Paso Police Department\u2019s Crimes Against Persons Unit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Early Saturday morning, March 28, police were dispatched to the 700 block of North Ochoa Street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">David Garcia, 33, from Chaparral, New Mexico, is suspected of being responsible for the assault against 47-year-old Salome J. Lares.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">El Paso Police identified the suspect and victim as General Delivery, which means they were both homeless.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Lares was taken to a burn unit in Lubbock and was last listed in critical condition, according to a release from the El Paso Police Department.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The El Paso Fire Department\u2019s Fire Marshals office is continuing to investigate the cause of the structure fire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Investigators are asking the public if anyone has information regarding this<br \/>assault, to contact the police at the non-emergency number of 915-832-4400 or to<br \/>remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 915-566-8477.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
