The\u00a0Peruvian eatery\u00a0went public with the news with a social media post shared across its platforms on Monday, March 30.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s with heavy hearts we share that our brother Axel Oliva tragically passed away earlier this week. We are taking time as a family and team to grieve. Leche de Tigre will be closed Tuesday [March 31] through Thursday [April 2]. We kindly ask for privacy as we process this loss,&#8221; the post said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Oliva <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/food\/article\/leche-de-tigre-san-antonio-17768483.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">launched Leche de Tigre in 2023<\/a> alongside his brothers, Alec and Emil Oliva, and the restaurant soon gained popularity and acclaim for its unique, upscale approach to Peruvian cuisine, particularly\u00a0the nikkei and chifa styles. In 2024, Leche de Tigre was recognized at the Michelin Guide&#8217;s first Texas ceremony, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/food\/article\/michelin-restaurants-san-antonio-21020077.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">a recognition that carried over to 2025<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Since\u00a0Leche de Tigre announced the passing of Axel Oliva, numerous local businesses, chefs and other community members have responded by offering their condolences, including Mixtli, Curry Boys BBQ, Southbound Coffee and Buddy&#8217;s Big Trouble.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are sending you all of our love during this incredibly difficult time. Our hearts ache with yours. We are here for anything you need. Rest in peace, Axel,&#8221; wrote Mixtli in an Instagram comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My heartfelt condolences.
