The Dallas Stars<\/a> signed general manager Jim Nill to a two-year contract extension, keeping him with the team through the 2027-28 season.<\/p>\n

Nill, 67, had spent this season working through the last of a two-year extension signed with the Stars in 2023. He said when that deal was signed he planned to work on a succession plan. <\/p>\n

\u201cJim has established himself as one of the most respected general managers in the NHL,\u201d Stars owner Tom Gaglardi said. \u201cThrough his roster management and talent evaluation, he has positioned our franchise to be amongst the best teams in our League in both the present and future. I\u2019m thrilled that he will continue to guide the Stars.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Stars have reached the Western Conference Final in each of the past three years, with Nill winning the Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award in all three seasons. <\/p>\n

Nill has served as general manager of the Stars since 2013, with the team reaching the playoffs in nine of his 13 seasons, including this year. The Stars reached the 2020 Stanley Cup Final in 2020, falling to the Tampa Bay Lightning<\/a> in six games.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m fortunate to work with incredibly talented and passionate individuals that have helped our franchise become one of the best in the NHL,\u201d Nill said. \u201cI\u2019m extremely grateful to have the opportunity to continue as general manager of the Stars. My family and I would like to thank Tom Gaglardi for his continued support as we look to bring the Stanley Cup back to Dallas.\u201d<\/p>\n

This season, the Stars sit second in the Central Division with the second-best record in the NHL at 44-18-12.
