As Women’s History Month <\/a>wraps on Tuesday, March 31, a new study released by CoworkingCafe<\/a> earlier this month highlighted which American metros best championed female entrepreneurs, women-owned businesses and labor and talent opportunities \u2014 and among more than 200 U.S. metros analyzed, a familiar one right here in Central Texas took the crown.<\/p>\n

The report revealed Austin was the No. 1 metro in the United States for women-owned businesses, marking it both an overall economic powerhouse<\/a> and the leader among a larger trend of Southern cities dominating when it came to female entrepreneurship. Both the Texas capital and the Live Music Capital of the World excelled when measured across three key factors: women’s entrepreneurship, economic context and labor and talent pool.<\/p>\n

Diving in closer, Austin scored 69.8 points out of 100, with an estimated 25.6% of all firms women-owned in its ecosystem, a median earning just shy of $51,000 and a women-to-men pay ratio of 75.7%. It marked the only Texas metro landing in the Top 10, with Dallas just missing the cut at No. 11. Others praised alongside Austin included:<\/p>\n

“Austin isn\u2019t just a tech darling, it\u2019s rapidly establishing itself as one of the best cities in the U.S. for women who want to own the whole company,” the report read, adding: “With a regional price parity of just 98.1 and a highly educated workforce (48% of women hold a bachelor\u2019s degree or higher), Austin offers a rare combination of opportunity and affordability that few cities its size can match.”<\/p>\n
