SAN ANTONIO \u2013 Ruben Ramirez has been sentenced to 55 years in prison for the murder of San Juan Melchor after being dismissed of claims of self-defense.<\/p>\n
According to prosecution, in April 2023, Ramirez ordered Melchor to leave a property at gunpoint. After Melchor refused to leave, Ramirez shot him once in the chest and fled the scene. Melchor later died from his injuries.<\/p>\n
At the time of his arrest, Ramirez was found to be in illegal possession of a firearm.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are immensely grateful to the jury for their careful deliberation and commitment to justice,\u201d Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales said. \u201cOur mission remains clear in ensuring that offenders will face the consequences of their unlawful behavior.\u201d<\/p>\n
