Calallen<\/a> waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with eight straight wins… but they left with nine. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the King Brahmas<\/a> a 22-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 16 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.<\/p>\n Drayton Mitchell<\/a> made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn’t given up a single earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI.<\/p>\n In other pitching news, John Cooper Becton<\/a> looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn’t given up more than one earned run any time he’s pitched this season.<\/p>\n Back at the plate, Calallen let Jimmy Tipton III<\/a> and Wyatt Duke<\/a> run wild. Tipton III went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and one double, while Duke went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Those two hits gave Tipton III a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Rusher<\/a>, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.<\/p>\n Calallen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as King only posted an OBP of .222.<\/p>\n Calallen’s record is now 21-2. As for King, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-12.<\/p>\n We’ve got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Calallen is set to face off against their familiar foe Zapata at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, King will take on rival Tuloso-Midway at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.<\/p>\n
