A man with former ties to the Children’s Museum Houston<\/a> has been charged as part of a multi-day sting targeting online predatory behavior involving minors.<\/p>\n

Louis Anthony “Tony” Salinas was charged with online solicitation of a minor, according to the Manvel Police Department.<\/p>\n

Salinas previously worked as the director of media production at the Children’s Museum Houston for five years, as reported by KHOU 11<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In response to Salinas’ arrest, the museum said the safety and well-being of the children and families they serve was its top priority.<\/p>\n

“While this matter did not arise from activities conducted through our organization, we took immediate and appropriate action upon learning of the situation,” the museum told Chron in a statement on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

The Children’s Museum Houston clarified its vetting process for employees.<\/p>\n

“We maintain strict policies and procedures designed to protect children, including thorough background checks and clear standards of conduct for all staff,” the company wrote. “We continuously review and strengthen these measures to ensure a safe, trusted, and welcoming environment for every child and family we serve.”<\/p>\n

The Children’s Museum said they are committed to supporting any ongoing investigation. Out of respect and integrity of the process,\u00a0the company said it is\u00a0unable to provide further details at this time.<\/p>\n

A LinkedIn account tied to Salinas says he began working at the Children\u2019s Museum in February 2021 and has shared several posts about his media production work there.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement officials also confirmed to KPRC 2<\/a> that Salinas was a former employee of the museum. KHOU 11 reported that Salinas also worked behind-the-scenes roles for the publication for nearly a decade.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Salinas was arrested as part of a multi-day investigation initiated on March 25, targeting individuals suspected of engaging in online predatory behavior against children, according to Manvel police.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The investigation was a collaboration between Manvel police and the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
