SAN ANTONIO – A judge has decided the fate of Erik Cantu following a probation hearing tied to multiple arrests since a 2022 officer-involved shooting.<\/p>\n

Judge Stephanie Boyd granted a motion to revoke Erik Cantu\u2019s probation and sentenced him to two years in prison, with credit for time already served. <\/p>\n

Cantu, who gained national attention after being shot multiple times by a San Antonio police officer in 2022, had been arrested six times since the incident on various charges, including burglary and evading arrest.<\/p>\n

The hearing focused on whether Cantu violated the terms of his probation stemming from prior charges. Prosecutors argued that his repeated arrests demonstrated a pattern of noncompliance, while the defense sought leniency.<\/p>\n

Cantu first made headlines in 2022 when he was shot multiple times by former San Antonio police officer James Brennand in a McDonald\u2019s parking lot. The shooting drew widespread attention and sparked conversations about police use of force.<\/p>\n
