Business Insider<\/a> confirmed on Tuesday, March 31, that the tech giant Oracle<\/a> issued emails to affected employees early Tuesday as part of ongoing cost-saving measures. Business Insider received copies of those notices, which said in part: “After careful consideration of Oracle’s current business needs, we have made the decision to eliminate your role as part of a broader organizational change. As a result, today is your last working day.”<\/p>\n

CNBC reported<\/a> the company employed approximately 162,000 globally based on May 2025 figures, noting its stock prices had taken a 25% nosedive this year. Those declining stock prices are reportedly related to Oracle’s capital spending on AI infrastructure, CNBC added.<\/p>\n

Those layoffs could spell impacts on Texas’ tech industry workforce. Oracle is currently headquartered in Austin, although it’s in the process of\u00a0relocating its world headquarters to Nashville. The layoffs come just weeks after reports circulated on Oracle setting aside billions for its restructuring initiatives, AI tools and data center infrastructure.
