The \u201cPink Moon\u201d gets its title not from its appearance, but from nature itself. When the moon is low, its light travels through more of Earth\u2019s atmosphere, filtering out shorter wavelengths and leaving behind those rich, warm tones.<\/p>\n<p>A Celestial Bonus<\/p>\n<p>Tonight\u2019s full moon comes with an extra treat: it will appear in the constellation Virgo, sitting very close to Spica, one of the brightest stars in the night sky.
