AUSTIN, Texas – Rain is on the way to break our long dry spell with a potential for severe storms overnight and early Thursday morning across the region.<\/p>\n
FOX 7 Austin’s Adaleigh Rowe says however, the risk of severe storms for Thursday morning has shifted more to the west, now including less of our viewing area.<\/p>\n
Timeline:<\/p>\n
Over the next 24 hours, we’re looking at widespread rain in the Austin area mostly in the early Thursday morning (4\/2) hours.<\/p>\n
There is a potential for severe storms early Thursday morning as well.<\/p>\n
A strong cold front on Saturday will then bring another round of rain and storms.<\/p>\n
Severe weather risk across Central Texas <\/p>\n
Big picture view:<\/p>\n
The National Weather Service has most of Central Texas under a slight or Level 1 risk of severe weather for Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Some parts in the north and northwest parts of the region are under a Level 2 risk.<\/p>\n
NWS says that there could be isolated strong to severe storms possible tonight, mainly after midnight, into early Thursday morning.<\/p>\n
The major dangers are hail, gusty to damaging winds and locally heavy rain.<\/p>\n
What’s next:<\/p>\n
We’re going to see a big cool down heading into Easter. Temps are expected to dip up to six degrees below our normal average over the weekend.<\/p>\n
