\t\t\t\t\t\t\tTejas Park, a park in Plano\u2019s Cross Creek East neighborhood, is set to get a $2.3 million makeover.<\/p>\n

Renovations will update existing equipment as well as adding new features like disc golf baskets and fitness stations.<\/p>\n

Money for the project was previously set aside in the city\u2019s 2025-2026 Park Improvement budget, according to city documents<\/a>. Plano City Council approved the contract at a March 23 meeting<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The specifics<\/p>\n

Plans for the renovation include:<\/p>\n

A new pavilionPlay equipment with a shade structureFitness stationsDisc golf basketsUpgraded walkways with additional benches\"visualization\"\/<\/p>\n

Tejas Park currently has a single playground for children ages 2\u201312. The renovations will expand the play area and divide it into two separate playgrounds, one for children ages 2\u20135 and one for children ages 5\u201312.<\/p>\n

Construction will also improve lighting, add irrigation and ensure that the park meets accessibility requirements, per a report by city staff.<\/p>\n

Renovations are set to start sometime this spring, according to the city\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While city officials haven\u2019t specified a timeline for the renovations, city documents say that using sod instead of alternatives like hydromulch will allow the park to reopen to the public faster than previously expected.<\/p>\n
