It’s nearly time for Fiesta to take over San Antonio with an extended series of festivities that almost always feature food and drinks. Like past years, people are already chattering about\u00a0high prices on Fiesta foods<\/a>, a controversial topic that one local influencer recently addressed head-on.<\/p>\n

Alex Serna, otherwise known as San Antonio Munchies, used his massive platform<\/a> to talk about complaints over Fiesta prices, posting his thoughts on social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“For those who are unaware, new to San Antonio or generally just want more information on where all that ‘money’ for Fiesta goes too, I highly encourage you to go the following website below and see for yourself over the 100+ nonprofits that fiesta supports during this 10 day celebration!” Serna wrote. He included the official Fiesta website<\/a> as the caption for the post.<\/p>\n

Serna is referring to the charitable efforts that Fiesta supports through its profits, which go toward things like scholarships, the arts, health programs and communities in need. According to the Fiesta website, Fiesta has a significant economic impact on the local economy, raising hundreds of millions of dollars each year.<\/p>\n

“Millions of dollars are raised and countless organizations and groups make a large part of their annual funding throughout this time,\u00a0so the next time you see that $10 chicken on a stick, sausage wrap, or burger; just know you’re supporting students education, children with disabilities, animals, veterans, museums, the arts, our city, and countless other causes for this amazing city we call home,” Serna said in his post.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, many critics of Fiesta’s pricing are concerned that high costs will be prohibitive for people who just want to enjoy the celebrations that take place annually across San Antonio.<\/p>\n

“That\u2019s great and fantastic but I\u2019d like to support these organizations without going in the poor house myself!!” read a Facebook comment in response to Serna’s post.\u00a0<\/p>\n
