Last week, Plano\u2019s Scouting America Troop 261<\/a> built a pet food pantry at the Humane Society of Dallas County<\/a> as part of Life Scout Samhith Chilakamarri\u2019s Eagle Scout project.<\/p>\n \u201cThis was a unique opportunity to not only work toward my Eagle rank and give back to the community in a meaningful and impactful way,\u201d said Chilakamarri.<\/p>\n As all Scouts are required to complete a service project to achieve the rank of Eagle, and Chilakamarri organized the project as a resource for families with pets facing hardship, especially as the shelter is currently experiencing a shortage of pet food.<\/p>\n \u201cThis food pantry represents more than just supplies; it represents stability for families and a second chance for pets,\u201d said Sarah McGoldrick, VP of Animal Operations. \u201cWe believe pets belong at home with the people who love them, and this pantry helps make that possible.\u201d<\/p>\n The pet pantry is open every day from 12 to 5 p.m., and donations of pet food are urgently needed, according to the Humane Society of Dallas County.
