The Dallas Morning News is looking for paid freelancers to assist in its unrivaled live coverage of high school football.<\/p>\n
FREELANCE REPORTER FOR HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL<\/p>\n
The Dallas Morning News sports department seeks freelancers to produce statistics and stories for high school football games for the upcoming season. We are looking for candidates who already live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.<\/p>\n
\u2014 Traveling to a game with a laptop and wireless internet card (we provide these).<\/p>\n
\u2014 Inputting live play-by-play statistics.<\/p>\n
\u2014 Writing a short recap on the game.<\/p>\n
\u2014 The ability to take pictures and video on a smartphone if asked.<\/p>\n
\u2014 Mandatory in-person, paid training sessions. All sessions are 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.<\/p>\n
Candidates should have the following:<\/p>\n
\u2014 A passion for and understanding of high school football rules and statistics.<\/p>\n
\u2014 Fast, accurate computer skills and the ability to take stats by hand if needed.<\/p>\n
\u2014 Drive to get it right, get it quickly.<\/p>\n
\u2014 Ability to write effectively on deadline.<\/p>\n
\u2014 Ability to commute in and around the Dallas-Fort Worth area.<\/p>\n
This part-time freelance opportunity is open to college students and others with experience covering high school football.
