{"id":230954,"date":"2026-04-01T23:25:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-01T23:25:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/230954\/"},"modified":"2026-04-01T23:25:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T23:25:08","slug":"fired-whataburger-worker-threatened-to-kill-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/230954\/","title":{"rendered":"Fired Whataburger worker threatened to kill manager"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An ex-Whataburger employee who authorities say threatened to kill his manager over his firing last year at a Northeast Side location was re-arrested over the weekend.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Robert Perry Jr., 33, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon stemming from a July 26 incident at the Whataburger\u00a0at 13900 O&#8217;Connor Road near Madison High School. He was arrested and is now\u00a0at the Bexar County jail with bail set at $60,000.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This is his second arrest in connection with the case. He was first taken into custody in August but was released after posting bond.<\/p>\n<p>San Antonio police did not immediately respond to a request for comment on why he was released or what led to his re-arrest.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of the incident, the\u00a0Whataburger manager told police he was about to fire Perry when the situation escalated, according to the San Antonio Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>Perry got upset and began to yell at the manager. The manager then asked him to leave the property. Police say Perry then took out a knife and began threatening him.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to police, Perry said, &#8220;I&#8217;m not afraid of jail,&#8221; &#8220;I have a murder under my belt,&#8221; &#8220;I will follow you home,&#8221; &#8220;I&#8217;ll be back,&#8221; and &#8220;I will kill you.&#8221; Perry then left the\u00a0Whataburger in a blue sedan.
