They believe the decline may be connected to Corpus Christi\u2019s use of multiple groundwater wells in western Nueces County.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Leaders from both cities met in Orange Grove to address the issue and agreed to further study the situation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThis is a shared aquifer,\u201d said Orange Grove City Administrator Todd Wright. \u201cIt\u2019s not isolated or confined or restricted to just one city. It\u2019s for all of South Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Corpus Christi has increasingly relied on groundwater wells as a temporary solution to maintain water supply while long-term infrastructure projects &#8211; such as desalination plants &#8211; are developed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">But Orange Grove officials say they\u2019ve also noticed changes in water quality.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cWe trend normally in the high 800s to low 900s,\u201d Wright said, referring to contaminant levels measured in total dissolved solids (TDS). \u201cBut over the last year, we\u2019ve reached the 1,100 range.
