{"id":231378,"date":"2026-04-02T05:38:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-02T05:38:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/231378\/"},"modified":"2026-04-02T05:38:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-02T05:38:07","slug":"no-deal-yet-between-texas-tech-physicians-and-unitedhealthcare","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/231378\/","title":{"rendered":"No Deal Yet Between Texas Tech Physicians and UnitedHealthCare"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thousands of patients across Lubbock, West Texas, and the Panhandle are waiting to hear if UnitedHealthcare and Texas Tech Physicians have reached a deal, and if they haven&#8217;t, what does that mean?<\/p>\n<p>Last week it was announced that\u00a0Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center along with Texas Tech Physicians announced that they had submitted a notice of termination for the Commercial and Medicare Advantage participation agreement with UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company.<\/p>\n<p>Thousands Could Lose Health Coverage<\/p>\n<p>If the two sides don&#8217;t reach an agreement, more than 30,000 people will lose in-network access.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kfyo.com\/lubbock-man-found-guilty-abuse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">READ MORE: Lubbock Man Found Guilty of &#8220;Horrific Abuse&#8221; of a Child<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As of April 1st, there is still no agreement. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.everythinglubbock.com\/news\/local-news\/texas-tech-physicians-has-not-come-to-an-agreement-with-unitedhealthcare\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">KAMC<\/a>, both sides &#8220;remain &#8220;engaged in good-faith negotiations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Those negotiations have been going on for over a year according to a press release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTexas Tech Physicians opened discussions with UnitedHealthcare in early 2025 for the Amarillo, Lubbock and Permian Basin campuses as the rates within these agreements have not been updated in 13 years,\u201d said Martin Clay, TTP Executive Director. \u201cThe decision to terminate is primarily due to disagreements over reimbursement rates amid the rising cost of patient care.
