I’m constantly hearing from people who love what we’re doing with Lubbock Lights, then add something like, “You know what would be good to also have … ?”

A community calendar is one of those ideas. Take a look.

Well, we’re trying one for a month and would appreciate your feedback.

The calendar is powered by a company using technology to scrape events from various sources in our community. That’s nice, because I know from my decades in the newspaper business, it’s a labor-intensive job that our tiny newsroom does not have time to do.

They’ve given it to us for a month because they’re doing a beta test on the connected advertising platform. A company can put an ad on the site and people can also spend a few dollars to boost their event on the calendar.

Organizations can also fill out a form to propose an event, which we will review before approval.

You can also subscribe to the calendar and get email updates about events.

If y’all like it, we’ll keep it. We’ll be using our Facebook page to do updates about the calendar and that’s the best place to post your comments.
