A 31-year-old mother, Kaitlyn Rose Laura, accused of medically abusing her child and causing serious injuries was arrested, the Tarrant County Sheriff\u2019s Office said.<\/p>\n

A North Texas mother accused of medically abusing<\/a> her 3-year-old son was arrested last week, the Tarrant County Sheriff\u2019s Office said in a news release Wednesday.<\/p>\n Kaitlyn Rose Laura, 31, of Glen Rose, was booked into the Tarrant County Jail on March 25 and faces charges of serious bodily injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Sheriff\u2019s Office and court records.<\/p>\n Laura is accused of lying about the toddler\u2019s medical history in order to get unnecessary treatments, including a feeding tube, at Cook Children\u2019s Medical Center in Fort Worth and Children\u2019s Medical Center Dallas, according to an arrest warrant affidavit prepared by Sheriff\u2019s Office Detective Michael Weber<\/a>.<\/p>\n Laura was released on bond with conditions including no contact with the victim or other children under 17, according to court documents. Texas Child Protective Services removed her son from her care, the affidavit states.<\/p>\n Her defense attorney declined to comment on the case Wednesday.<\/p>\n Detectives also are investigating possible Medicaid fraud charges after they found at least three separate GoFundMe accounts created by Laura to solicit donations for both herself and her son\u2019s medical expenses, according to the news release.<\/p>\n \u201cThe medical abuse of a child is a horrific crime.
