Calallen<\/a> is a perfect 8-0 against Zapata<\/a> since April of 2021 and they’ll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Calallen knows how to get runs on the board — the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past six contests — so hopefully Zapata likes a good challenge.<\/p>\n Zapata’s hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Calallen hadn’t allowed a single run the last three times they’ve hit the field. The Wildcats never let King get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.<\/p>\n Hannah Thibodeaux<\/a> made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn’t given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter’s box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.<\/p>\n In other batting news, Calallen got a massive performance out of Braelyn Bailey<\/a>, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Addison Juarez<\/a> was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.<\/p>\n Calallen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .786. That was just more of the same: they’ve now posted an OBP of .516 or higher in five consecutive matchups.<\/p>\n Zapata came out on top against Robstown on Tuesday thanks in part to the team’s impressive four-run second inning. The Hawks blew past the Cottonpickers 8-1. The Hawks haven’t had any issues with the Cottonpickers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.<\/p>\n Karly Alvarenga<\/a> spent all seven innings on the mound, and it’s clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks.<\/p>\n At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jayleen Ramirez<\/a>, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abby Benavides<\/a>, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.<\/p>\n Calallen’s record now sits at 19-8-2. As for Zapata, their record is now 14-9-2.<\/p>\n Both the two teams just can’t seem to miss. Calallen has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it’s not like Zapata struggles in that department as they’ve been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.<\/p>\n Everything went Calallen’s way against Zapata when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Calallen made off with a 17-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won’t have the home-field advantage this time around.
