Gas prices<\/a>\u00a0continue to rise in Texas as global tensions \u2014 including the ongoing conflict involving Iran \u2014 continue to push up crude oil costs.<\/a><\/p>\n

Nationally, prices are also climbing. As of Wednesday, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline was $4.08, according to AAA.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s up 10 cents from last week and about $1 higher than a month ago. Crude oil prices remain elevated as the conflict enters its fourth week, putting continued pressure on fuel costs. Prices could approach $4 per gallon nationwide for the first time since August 2022.<\/p>\n

According to AAA<\/a>, gas prices are still rising throughout Austin. Last week’s average in the Austin-San Marcos metropolitan areas were $3.64.<\/p>\n

According to SmartAsset<\/a>, Nationwide, the average cost of a gallon of diesel increased 50.2% since last year, up from $3.62 to $5.43. Per their data, Texas saw a 60.9% in diesel costs within one year.<\/p>\n

SmartAsset\u2019s analysis is based on AAA data comparing April 1, 2025, and April 1, 2026.<\/p>\n

Texas ranks 35th among states for gas prices, according to the report.<\/p>\n
