Calallen<\/a> is a perfect 8-0 against Zapata<\/a> since April of 2021 and they’ll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Wildcats will head out to face off against the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Calallen will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.<\/p>\n

Zapata’s hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Calallen hadn’t allowed a single run the last three times they’ve hit the field. Everything went the Wildcats’ way against King on Tuesday as they made off with a 22-0 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won 16 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday’s blowout was nothing new.<\/p>\n

Drayton Mitchell<\/a> made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn’t given up a single earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI.<\/p>\n

In other pitching news, John Cooper Becton<\/a> looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn’t given up more than one earned run any time he’s pitched this season.<\/p>\n

Back at the plate, Jimmy Tipton III<\/a> and Wyatt Duke<\/a> did most of the damage at the plate: Tipton III went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and one double, while Duke went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Those six RBI gave Tipton III a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reese Rusher<\/a>, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.<\/p>\n

Calallen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That’s the best OBP they’ve posted all season.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Zapata fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Robstown on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cottonpickers by a score of 5-4. The Hawks haven’t had much luck with the Cottonpickers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they’ve met.<\/p>\n

Jay Solis<\/a> was cooking despite his team’s loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and two RBI.<\/p>\n

Calallen’s record now sits at 21-2. As for Zapata, they now have a losing record of 8-9-1.<\/p>\n

Zapata’s pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Calallen hasn’t had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .416. It’s a different story for Zapata, though, as they’ve only averaged .241. Will they be able to contain Calallen’s hitters?<\/p>\n

Calallen got the ‘W’ in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Zapata by a conclusive 13-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won’t have the home-field advantage this time around.
