The transaction, which includes brands Elfa and Closet Works, is set to close later this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With the new deal, store locations will be branded The Container Store \/ Bed Bath and Beyond.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have studied The Container Store business for over eighteen months because it brings not only more than 100 trophy locations, but also a culture and operating discipline that aligns with the standards we are building,\u201d Marcus Lemonis, executive chairman and CEO of Bed Bath &amp; Beyond, said in a letter to shareholders. \u201cThese locations represent over 2.2 million square feet of premium retail space.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The announcement follows a deal in 2024 by the parent of Bed Bath &amp; Beyond that included $40 million, but that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/retail\/2024\/11\/22\/container-stores-40-million-bailout-deal-in-jeopardy-as-financing-efforts-fall-short\/\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fell into trouble<\/a>, and The Container Store filed for bankruptcy. It emerged from Chapter 11 last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 2024, we had the opportunity to invest and chose not to move forward due to my concerns around leadership, strategic direction of the brand, and the health of the company\u2019s balance sheet,\u201d Lemonis said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Container Store is set for a new chapter after facing headwinds that led to the bankruptcy. Other retailers have faced challenges, including Joann, Saks Global and Macy\u2019s, which have seen store closures.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bed Bath &amp; Beyond, which includes its namesake, Overstock and\u00a0buybuy BABY, last year acquired Kirkland\u2019s Home trade name and related assets. The Container Store helps customers with closets, racks and other offerings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis transaction will fill critical gaps in both our retail and home services strategy,\u201d Lemonis said. \u00a0\u201c&#8230; With an average footprint of approximately 21,000 square feet per store, these locations will feature a combination of merchandise across bed, bath, storage and organization, kitchen, and entertaining.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore importantly, they will significantly expand their existing home services offering.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Bed Bath &amp; Beyond is set to acquire\u00a0The Container Store.
