Fast food wasn\u2019t just a quick meal; it was an event. McDonald\u2019s felt like fine dining, Subway felt upscale, and going to an actual sit-down restaurant? That was a full-blown celebration. When is last time you actually sat down inside a fast-food joint? Capri Suns, Lunchables, and name-brand cereal weren\u2019t just groceries, no. They were status symbols at elementary school. If your house had those regularly, other kids assumed you were doing pretty well.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"815\" data-end=\"1049\">Then there were the little things that felt HUGE. A 64-pack of crayons. Getting popcorn and a drink at the movies. Staying in a hotel with free breakfast. Even a fridge with an ice dispenser felt like something only rich people had.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"815\" data-end=\"1049\">Technology also played a role. A Discman, cable TV with all the channels, or having your own TV in your room? That was elite.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"815\" data-end=\"1049\">The best part about this is that after sitting here thinking about it, most of that stuff still feels fancy to me today.
