CASTROVILLE, Texas \u2013 The Medina Valley Independent School District Board of Trustees named Calallen ISD Superintendent Emily Lorenz as its lone finalist to lead the district.<\/p>\n

The board announced it selected Lorenz as its candidate during a Wednesday night board meeting.<\/p>\n

Under Texas law, the board cannot formally hire Lorenz for at least 21 days following the public notice.<\/p>\n

The board is expected to take a final vote at its April 27 meeting.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am both honored and humbled to be named the lone finalist for Superintendent of Medina Valley Independent School District,\u201d Lorenz said. \u201cI am truly excited for the opportunity to serve and support the students, staff, and community of this exceptional district.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lorenz brings two decades of educational leadership, holding roles as assistant superintendent, director of curriculum, and educational specialist at Region 20 before becoming Calallen\u2019s superintendent in 2022.<\/p>\n

The announcement comes after current superintendent Scott Caloss said he was retiring<\/a> from public education after 34 years, the district announced in February. His last day will be June 30.<\/p>\n

Lorenz said she is \u201ccommitted to creating opportunities, fostering success, and continuing to move the district forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTogether, we will build upon the district\u2019s many strengths,\u201d Lorenz said, \u201cwhile embracing opportunities for growth and innovation.\u201d<\/p>\n
