{"id":232841,"date":"2026-04-03T03:18:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-03T03:18:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/232841\/"},"modified":"2026-04-03T03:18:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-03T03:18:07","slug":"san-antonio-seeking-payment-for-decade-old-civil-citations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/232841\/","title":{"rendered":"San Antonio seeking payment for decade-old civil citations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">SAN ANTONIO \u2013 A San Antonio woman said she was surprised to receive notices for two unpaid civil citations last month that are more than a decade old.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Agapita Jaramillo received notices from the city for two separate unpaid citations on March 6 and March 30. Jaramillo said one of the citations dates back to Dec. 17, 2012.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Jaramillo said she remembers going to court for her dog being out without a leash and off of her property, but said she didn\u2019t know there was a balance still owed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cI wasn\u2019t aware,\u201d Jaramillo said. \u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019ve been requesting like copies and support, and when I went to try and appeal it, they told me I couldn\u2019t appeal these citations because they were already past 60 days or 90 days.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">She said she did not know about the second citation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cOne of them, it looks like, was parking near a water hydrant on Orchard Willow,\u201d Jaramillo said. \u201cI don\u2019t even know where that is, and the license plate of the vehicle, I\u2019m not even sure if that was my vehicle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Jaramillo said she paid a $97 fine for the citation she knew about, but said paying both is difficult because she is on a fixed income.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cI\u2019m retired,\u201d Jaramillo said. \u201cI\u2019ve been retired for 15 years. I\u2019d like for them to work with me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Jaramillo said she has lived at her current home for 26 years, and the city would have been able to reach her by mail at her address prior to 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">It is unclear if there was mail sent to her on the citations previously, but the city said there are steps she can take to address the citations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The court said judges hold \u201cability to pay\u201d hearings for older adults and people on fixed incomes Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">These hearings are held on a walk-in basis at Municipal Court, 401 S.
