SAN ANTONIO, Tx \u2014 The chance of April showers is not washing away a San Antonio Easter camping tradition. At 11 p.m. Thursday night the curfew will be lifted at parks across the city allowing overnight camping for Easter weekend.<\/p>\n
Families have been marking their territories at Brackenridge Park all week long. While the weather may be perfect for setting up tents now Chief Meteorologist Chris Suchan says the weather will take a gloomy turn this weekend.<\/p>\n
\u201cFriday night into Saturday morning could have a few showers,\u201d Suchan said. \u201cOn Saturday the fronts are coming in. That\u2019s where I think there are a few downpours with thunderstorms. We\u2019ll see if they\u2019re severe. It may not be severe, but it doesn\u2019t matter because you can still have a lightening risk.\u201d<\/p>\n
Those showers will continue Easter Sunday. Joel Solis says the rainfall will not dampen his family\u2019s 40-year Easter tradition.<\/p>\n
\u201cI asked my sister should we cancel; she said what kind of camper are you,\u201d Solis said. \u201cShe said she\u2019s going to be here through Sunday. Rain or shine we\u2019re here.\u201d<\/p>\n
Even with a soggy weekend ahead, Victor Sandoval is excited to pass down his family\u2019s tradition to younger generations.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were out here when we were they\u2019re age,\u201d Sandoval said. \u201cThey\u2019re excited, and I\u2019m so excited for them.\u201d<\/p>\n
On top of the rain showers, temperatures are expected to drop this weekend into the 60\u2019s.
