CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 It was a special night for former Gregory-Portland Wildcat Walker Janek despite the Hooks being unable to get the bats going in a 5-1 loss to Frisco on Opening Day.<\/p>\n
Janek made a couple of nice plays behind the plate by throwing out a baserunner in the second inning and getting an out on a dribbler in the third. The Astros’ fifth overall prospect finished 0-3 at the plate with a walk.<\/p>\n
He said playing in front of his family and friends was a dream come true.<\/p>\n
“It was awesome and something I’ve looked forward to for a long time. I was happy to be here,” Janek said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Of his own performance, Janek says the best is hopefully yet to come.<\/p>\n
“It was decent. Still room to go, but first game jitters probably.”<\/p>\n
The Hooks will look to even the series on Firworks Friday, which is also Kiii-TV night.
