She was 69.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Talley became a strong supporter of the West Texas ALS Support Group, which came together shortly after her diagnosis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig\u2019s disease, is a progressive illness that attacks and shuts down the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. The disease affects nerves that control the ability to move, speak, eat and eventually breathe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Tim and Rebecca Talley began their lives together as missionaries, helping others. In recent years, Tim devoted himself to helping Rebecca enjoy life in spite of her wheelchair and the machine she needed to give her a voice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The couple attended the ALS gala two years ago, where they danced together.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"> Rebecca Talley said through a synthesizer in 2023, \u201cOutwardly, I am wasting away. Yet inwardly, I am being renewed day-by-day. It is amazing. That it\u2019s not how you look. Not what you do. Not what you know, but your true self that is eternal that can have joy and faith through difficult times,\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Funeral services for Rebecca Talley are planned for Monday, April 6 at 2 p.m. at Broadway Church of Christ.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 KCBD.
