Letti Villarreal is a regular at Brackenridge Park when it comes to Easter. She’s looking forward to popping pinatas, barbecuing and hopefully, dry weather.<\/p>\n
SAN ANTONIO \u2014 Tents surrounded by yellow caution tape at San Antonio parks are the tell-tale signs that Easter weekend is almost here.<\/p>\n
The city lifted its overnight curfew at 11 p.m., allowing families to begin camping as they prepare for celebrations.<\/p>\n
Ruby Camacho and family spent Thursday afternoon setting up their tent at a different spot in Brackenridge Park this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been coming here for years with my family. We\u2019re usually over there by the zoo right in front of the pavilion,” Camacho said. \u201cA lot of these spots are good spots and they like to go fast.\u201d<\/p>\n
Camacho looks forward to all the fun and festivities alongside her loved ones.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cA lot of Easter hunts, driving in, you\u2019re going to special a whole bunch of different foods, a whole bunch of families doing their own things,” Camacho said.<\/p>\n
The weekend typically draws large crowds, with activities ranging from Easter egg hunts to barbecues and family gatherings. For newcomers, Camacho said the experience is one to remember.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re going to see a whole bunch of different foods, a whole bunch of families doing their own things,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Letti Villarreal is among those excited about the celebrations, including pi\u00f1atas, outdoor cooking and quality time with loved ones.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel free,\u201d Villarreal said.<\/p>\n
Still, weather remains a concern for some. Villarreal recalls last year\u2019s Easter weekend, when storms interrupted festivities.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe got caught in that big thunderstorm,\u201d Villarreal said. \u201cI\u2019m hoping it doesn\u2019t rain, maybe just a little bit, but not here in this spot.\u201d<\/p>\n
City officials are reminding residents to enjoy the holiday responsibly and to clean up after themselves as thousands are expected to gather in parks across San Antonio.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Letti Villarreal is a regular at Brackenridge Park when it comes to Easter.
